The Modern Chrysaor
"Gold may shine;
but it has no true light"
Sprung from the head of Gorgon Medusa
A phantom deigns this night
Chrysaor, the brother of the winged horse Pegasus, the son of Gorgon Medusa...
A forgotten name from a distant time.
Yet his story reverberates with our modern plight.
Though face of the Chrysaor morphs into unrecognizable villainy...
Mythological Context
Chrysaor sprung from Medusa's head when Perseus beheaded the gorgon on King Acrisius's command. Along with him, came Pegasus- a name you are most certainly familiar with.
Chrysaor, however, is left in the shadow in modern representations.. His name means 'he who wields the golden sword', and that is the only mythological precedent we have...but the cloud of mystery surrounding our chosen one is not why we are discussing him now.
It isn't the mythology... It's the 🌟symbolism🌟..
Symbolic Dissertation
Chrysaor's mother, Medusa, is symbolic of apotropaic magic- a mere glance at her disforming visage will petrify the beholder. This implies that Chrysaor is a spawn of evil-but his characterization may still be redeemed, by the fact that Medusa's head is severed and sought after for protection. Chrysaor possesses a golden sword, which adds to the theme of defense. However, that does not explain the role of Pegasus, a being whose premise in freedom of the spirit...Medusa's origins include voluptuous sins.. Therefore, it becomes hard for us to determine which characterization suits her (and in turn her children) better: the grotesque demon or the useful tool for petrification.
Coming to Chrysaor, his golden sword might also symbolize wealth, and the power that comes from wealth.
In this representation, Medusa plays the role of the embodiment of evil, the mind spawning the greed for power (Chrysaor) and intoxication of the senses (Pegasus).
Modern Day Resurgence
The Story of the Vaccines
Dear viewer, look around you. The world writhes and turns in pain, yet relief is far-fetched.
Now, consider this...
Ignoble beliefs spawn in every one's minds... Intoxication of all that is honorable and just rules one's reason. And with a golden sword, the heartless ones tear at the last vestiges of hope humanity has.
The vaccine black market.
Cruelty stems in their minds, and with their hearts ablaze with lust for power, they do whatever they want to... They are free to do as they please...
Mindless avarice rules their reason.
The modern Chrysaor is far from venerable- there is no excuse for heartless cruelty.
