September the 25th

September 25 is the 268th day of the year in the Gregorian calendar; 97 days remain until the end of the year.

I believe that in the mundanity of our pre-planned lives, it becomes easy for us to forget that this 'yet another boring day' might have been of utmost importance to someone centuries past.

I don't know if its just me who derives contentment from having something in common with figures of antiquity, but here we are. And you, dear reader, will listen to what I say.

#1

William Faulkner (1897-1962)

"As long as I live under the Capitalistic system, I expect to be influenced by the demands of moneyed people, but I will be damned if I propose to be at the beck and call of every itinerant scoundrel who has two cents to invest in a postage stamp. This, sir, is my resignation."

William Faulkner

So were the words of William Faulkner's resignation.
The inevitability of having to do something that you don't like...is easily redeemed by a powerful 'herewith my resignation.'
A very happy birthday to the author of The Sound and the Fury, among many others.
William's last words: Yes, Jim, I will.
It is for the notice of all the Jims in the world: Mr. Faulkner will.

For the pannapictagraphist (collector of comic books).

Every year on September 25, comic book readers, collectors, lovers and fans celebrate National Comic Book Day in the United States.

In 1933, a comic book, Famous Funnies, appeared in the United States and is believed to be the first real comic book. It was a reprinting of earlier newspaper comic strips which had established many of the story telling devices used in comics.
Happiness is in little things, they said.

The Fifth Day of Sukkot

Sukkot marks the forty years when Jews took shelter in the wilderness on the journey to the Promised Land. The hope of a better future, away from Egyptian slavery.

Freedom, sweet freedom!
